Walt Disney once said, "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." With one semester left of college, Scott decided to do just that. Following his passion for business, Scott was still finishing up his undergraduate degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship when he started Pivt Enterprise in 2017. As the Co-Founder and President, we enjoyed speaking with Scott to learn more about his new app, the ups and downs of starting a business and what advice he has for other students during college and after.

What is Pivt?
Pivt is an enterprise social app designed to reduce churn and improve the well-being of relocated and mobile employees. By connecting users to other relocated employees around the world based on interests, goals, and commonalities, Pivt helps employees acclimate seamlessly, make plans to meet socially, and source trusted and curated advice about their new city.

What solution does Pivt offer companies and their employees?
Companies spend an average of 90k relocating one single employee. Over 1/3 of these employees leave their post early due to social reasons. That’s a lot of time and money lost by the company, their employee, and even their families. Pivt can save employers time and money while helping to retain employees while they acclimate to their new environment both professionally and personally.

Is this what you pictured yourself doing at this juncture in your life?
I’ve always wanted to be a business owner as I come from a family of entrepreneurs. I’m not sure that I ever expected to be doing this so soon out of college, but it's all part of the journey. I would advise the same to others thinking about starting their own business, "If you have an idea or plan that you are passionate about, then go for it!"
What has been the biggest pro of being your own boss?
Controlling my own schedule. Being able to manage my own work/life balance is an incredible benefit to owning my own business.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur?
Staying patient and level headed. Starting a company is an emotional rollercoaster. It is very important to stay level headed and optimistic throughout the ups and the downs.

What is one piece of advice you would offer to other college students?
Worry less about school work and more about getting involved in the communities for which you have a passion. If you love basketball, apply to be a manager of the school team. If you love business, join the entrepreneurship club or find an internship at a local start-up. Take risks and have fun. You don’t get those four years back.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
While I continue to pursue my career in business I also enjoy taking time to golf and read. My favorite basketball team is the New York Knicks. In five years, I see myself at Madison Square Garden cheering the Knicks towards winning their fourth consecutive NBA championship!

What has been your most meaningful life experience to date?
My most meaningful life experience to this point is probably the one I missed out on. Growing up as an athlete and avid sports lover, I always thought I’d play a sport in college. As a high school lacrosse player, I got offers to play in several different college programs, but none of them at the level I had hoped to play. I regret not spending more time working on my craft in high school, but I now use that regret as motivation to work harder towards my goals today and in the future.
Send your college student love from afar.
